Painting Designs on Glass

Painting on glass is one way to make ordinary utensils jars and bottles into. It is also a way of recycling jam jars, Pickle jars, wine bottles and other like throwaway containers. These containers can be converted into a variety of containers for holding flowers or as cosmetic containers or just to hold ornaments.

Normal household items like glass ashtrays can look very beautiful and original with the design painted on the bottom or even covered completely with paint. Drinking water glasses can be personalized and inexpensive mixing bowls can be decorated to make original and unique containers to match your kitchen. Designs can also be mixed and matched to create that would be welcome to the most elegant dinner table.

Many simple shapes and designs can be painted freehand directly onto the glass and there are a number of designs which require no ability to draw whatsoever. When buying paint you must specify that it is to be used on the last. Craft stores and art supply stores should stock transparent and open eight in animal paints which are designed especially for painting on glass. So you will need to buy centers to help clean up. The best brushes are inexpensive watercolor brushes and are perfectly suitable for this type of craft work. For the most Intricate designs however you should use a good sable brush.

Children will also enjoy this craft as they are able to make their own unique for their own place setting. They can also learn stenciling techniques and lettering techniques on glass jars that are throwaway.
